Scams |
Never apply
for scholarships that ask for fees, taxes,
or financial aid loan application fees.
If you must pay money to get money, it
might be a scam. Never invest more than
a postage stamp to get information about scholarships.
Remember, nobody can guarantee that you'll
win a scholarship. Legitimate
scholarship foundations do not charge
application fees.
To report a suspicious scholarship offer,
write a letter summarizing your
experience with the company to an anti-fraud
organization. Include the details
of your complaint, the steps you took to
try to obtain satisfaction, and the
company's response to your efforts. Report
suspicious scholarship offers to:
National Fraud Information Center
PO Box 65868
Washington, DC 20035
1-800-876-7060
If your problem involves mail fraud, contact
the Postal Crime Hotline at
1-800-654-8896. |
